Medicine. Any of several diseases involving swelling or inflammation of lymph nodes, spec. (a) (in full lymphogranuloma inguinale [ɪŋgwɪ'nɑ:li], also lymphogranuloma venereum [vɪ'nɪǝrɪǝm]) a venereal disease, esp. of the tropics, caused by chlamydial infection and resulting in destructive inflammation of lymph nodes and lymph vessels, particularly in the inguinal region; (b) Hodgkin's disease; (c) sarcoidosis.
